“Tailored approaches to conflict resolution that meet the needs and unique circumstances of each client.”

- Chelsea Batten

Chelsea Batten

Chelsea has practiced in the area of family law since being called to the bar in 2004. She strives to meet the individual needs of clients and their families by combining a sound legal knowledge with a variety of resolution strategies. Chelsea has extensive and varied experience with disputes regarding parenting, support and property division as well as preparation of pre-nuptial or cohabitation contracts.
Prior to joining Moe Hannah LLP, Chelsea was a partner at a well-respected Calgary firm. She had the benefit of exposure to areas of law beyond family law that have allowed her to develop a deeper understanding of dispute resolution and litigation process and the inter-connected nature of legal issues. She continues to foster and have the benefit of a strong network of colleagues and mentors from which to draw advice and expertise. Chelsea’s years of experience in family law have also allowed her to foster strong professional relationships with other family law counsel, which benefits clients through creating a mutually respectful and productive environment.
Chelsea tries to achieve resolution of her clients’ disputes in a way that minimizes conflict between the parties. However, where litigation is the more appropriate option, Chelsea has the experience necessary to effectively advocate on behalf of her clients. She is well versed in the Court Process and effectively uses the Rules of Court to advance her client’s case to conclusion. She has appeared on matters before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta and is a confident and capable advocate in those arenas.

Moe Hannah LLP

Client safety is important to Moe Hannah and so is client service. The health of our staff and clients is our top priority.  If clients and counsel prefer to work remotely during this difficult time, options exist for us to provide this service. Moe Hannah is able to do “virtual” non face-to-face meeting through internet conferencing.  We can do virtual consultations, mediation, or mediation/arbitration.
We can make it easy!
We will email a link for the conference to each person. The only requirement is internet access and a device suitable for the conference, ideally a camera and microphone.  Some people just use their cell phones.
If you have any questions, please call or email us to talk about how we can make this work.
We can still meet at Moe Hannah LLP for those people that would prefer to personally attend.  Everyone entering our office will be screened in accordance with the latest Alberta Health Guidelines.
Our lawyers and assistants are set up to work remotely and we will continue mediation, mediation/arbitration and client meetings using Teams Video Conferencing, as well as our regular telephone conferencing.
Consider Alternative Dispute Resolution
The Courts have announced that they are limiting access to urgent family law mattes. In light of this, parties may want to consider the mediation/arbitration process.  Please get in touch with your lawyer and/or assistant if you have any questions regarding your matter.
We look forward to working with you and helping you move forward during this difficult time.
