Warren Jennings
Warren practices in Calgary, Alberta and Victoria, British Columbia. Please see his webpage: www.islandfamilylawyers.com.
Warren’s goal is to help solve his client’s problems effectively and efficiently, with dignity and respect. The end of a relationship is hard enough without the fear and uncertainty of litigation. Warren employs methods of dispute resolution that meet the needs of his clients to advance their interests while maintaining their self-respect.
Warren is a trained Collaborative Lawyer and mediator. He also provides advice to those individuals who want to do it themselves, rather than employ a lawyer to act as their voice and agent. The method of resolving the issues from the breakdown of a relationship is specific to each individual; Warren assists his clients in determining what they need, what a realistic outcome looks like, and the best methods to advance their interests without compromising their principles.
Warren offers the following services:
- Providing an initial consultation for those individuals who want to know how to do it themselves, so that the agreement they reach can survive the scrutiny of legal analysis when taken to the lawyers for independent legal advice,
- Independent legal advice to those who have come to their own separation or prenuptial agreement, including drafting the paperwork to formalize the agreement,
- Mediation for couples who desire neutral, experienced and effective assistance in resolving their disputes, either with or without legal counsel,
- Second opinions for agreements reached or advice received by individuals,
- Representation for individuals who desire to negotiate or mediate their dispute with their spouse and his or her lawyer,
- Legal advice and consultation for individuals who are engaged in mediation or other types of non-lawyer dispute resolution processes, and
- Limited Court representation to be determined on a case by case basis.
Warren offers initial consultations to individuals who desire a first look at their matters, without obligation for further cost or action. This consultation is not free; however, you will come away with information that you can use to advance your matter towards a resolution.
“Everyone’s circumstances are different, and legal advice is unique to everyone. Even if you can resolve your dispute with your spouse together without the active involvement of lawyers, you can still benefit from legal advice before you say ‘yes.’ Contact me to schedule a consultation, so that I can help you make these decisions in a way that is best for you.”
A devoted husband and father of two, Warren graduated with a Bachelor`s degree in Political Science from the University of Calgary, and then a law degree from the University of Manitoba. His experience in provincial family court and Queen`s Bench litigation includes a wide array of legal issues in the field of family dispute and resolution. His interest and philosophy led him to training in mediation and Collaborative Law, where he has focused his practice today. Warren also enjoys working with individuals who are able to effectively resolve their own disputes, often with methods of dispute resolution supported by non-lawyers. Warren works with these individuals, not against them, so that the agreement reached is effective and enduring.
