Chelsea Batten

Chelsea has practiced in the area of family law since being called to the bar in 2004. She strives to meet the individual needs of clients and their families by combining a sound legal knowledge with a variety of resolution strategies. Chelsea has extensive and varied experience with disputes regarding parenting, support and property division as well as preparation of pre-nuptial or cohabitation contracts.

Prior to joining Moe Hannah LLP, Chelsea was a partner at a well-respected Calgary firm. She had the benefit of exposure to areas of law beyond family law that have allowed her to develop a deeper understanding of dispute resolution and litigation process and the inter-connected nature of legal issues. She continues to foster and have the benefit of a strong network of colleagues and mentors from which to draw advice and expertise. Chelsea’s years of experience in family law have also allowed her to foster strong professional relationships with other family law counsel, which benefits clients through creating a mutually respectful and productive environment.

Chelsea tries to achieve resolution of her clients’ disputes in a way that minimizes conflict between the parties. However, where litigation is the more appropriate option, Chelsea has the experience necessary to effectively advocate on behalf of her clients. She is well versed in the Court Process and effectively uses the Rules of Court to advance her client’s case to conclusion. She has appeared on matters before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta and is a confident and capable advocate in those arenas.
