Beryl McNeill
Lawyer and Mediator

Beryl McNeill is a big believer in mutual understanding, especially when it comes to the sensitivities of family law. As a Registered Collaborative Family Law practitioner in Calgary, she offers over 20 years of experience to her family law practice.

With an Economics Degree from the University of Alberta and a law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1990, Beryl’s dedication to her profession is demonstrated by her compassion, constructive methodologies and proven track record.

Beginning her career with Brawn and Randall in multiple court venues in Vancouver’s Lower Mainland, she honed her negotiation and court room skills in the field of insurance defense and small claims. From there, she was retained as legal counsel for the Family Maintenance Enforcement of British Columbia, defending against debtor applications, conducting enforcement proceedings and conducting show cause committal hearings.

This led to her work as an Associate with McEachern Gambrel, where she focused her skills in the area of complex personal injury and family law cases.

Upon arriving in Alberta, Beryl opened her own law practice in 1996 with a continued focus on personal injury and family law. In 2003, she brought her mediation and negotiation skills to Moe and Hannah, where her practice in Collaborative Family Law has flourished.

Beryl’s extensive training in mediation and negotiation began with instruction from the Justice Institute of British Columbia and the Legal Education Society of Alberta. Her skill sets have been augmented with instruction from Mount Royal College, Alberta Family Mediation Society, Palliser Conflict Resolution and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

Her philosophy mirrors that of “Collaborative Practice,” which is swiftly becoming the preferred way to peacefully resolve family and divorce conflict. She endorses mutual respect, providing a venue for open communication and identifying the needs and interests of all parties, while avoiding the need for unnecessary court costs. Her pledge for fairness and empowerment supports every family she assists.

Beryl is very active with the Family Bar and the Collaborative Law Community. Beryl's involvement provides her clients with assurance that she has her finger on the pulse of Family Law in Alberta, offering them a distinct advantage in their quest for equity and civility.
